چکیده
This work compares the contributions of synoptic, intraseasonal, and interannual components large-scale parameters to tropical cyclone (TC) genesis over North Indian Ocean (NIO) from April December 1979 2020. A composite analysis is employed with respect TC time location. It shown that most TCs occur when total sea surface temperature (SST) between 28 30 °C SST anomalies in three ranges are small (with magnitude less than 0.2 °C). The form mostly vertical zonal wind shear −6 6 m s−1 falls within −12 −3 s−1, synoptic component being a positive contributor. intraseasonal vorticity convergence low level, motion specific humidity middle convection contributes dominantly genesis. Synoptic-scale disturbances obtain barotropic kinetic energy climatological mean flows, former dominant southeastern sector, latter northwestern sector. temporal environmental factors compared for Arabian Sea (AS) Bay Bengal (BOB) early season (April through June) late (September December). relative also formation among NIO, northern Atlantic (NTA), Northwestern Pacific (WNP), Northeastern (ENP).

Response of tropical cyclone potential intensity over the north Indian Ocean to global warming
[1] The responses of tropical cyclone (TC) potential intensity (PI) and the associated environmental control parameters over the North Indian Ocean (NIO) to the doubled CO2 concentration are assessed based on the ensemble simulation from 15 coupled general circulation models (CGCMs) participated in the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) Forth Assessment Report (AR4). The results ...
متن کاملPredicting Tropical Cyclone Genesis
The long-term goal of this project is to provide probabilistic genesis forecast guidance to operational forecasters and develop a genesis index to provide guidance for operational dynamical model prediction of tropical cyclone (TC) genesis. Once regions of high TC genesis probability are identified, a movable, multi-nested version of the COAMPS with resolution of roughly 3 km or less in the inn...
متن کاملTropical cyclone genesis over the south China sea
The South China Sea (SCS) is among areas in the Northwest Pacific most frequented by tropical cyclones (TCs) with intensity reaching a tropical storm or stronger. It is also an area of significant TC genesis. In this study, TC genesis in SCS and its monsoonal variability for 1948–2003 are analyzed. Altogether, in May–September (southwest monsoon period) 157 TC geneses have occurred north of 12°...
متن کاملA Poisson regression index for tropical cyclone genesis and the role of large-scale vorticity in genesis
A Poisson regression between the observed climatology of tropical cyclogenesis (TCG) and largescale climate variables is used to construct a TCG index. The regression methodology is objective and provides a framework for the selection of the climate variables in the index. Broadly following earlier work, four climate variables appear in the index: low-level absolute vorticity, relative humidity...
